Legal FAQ

Is LeaseGuard Ontario a legal service?

No. LeaseGuard Ontario provides educational tools and resources to help renters better understand lease agreements and identify potentially unlawful or misleading clauses. We do not offer legal advice, legal interpretation, or representation.

Can you tell me if my lease is legal or enforceable?

No. We do not determine legality. Our services help tenants recognize common red flags using information based on the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA). We educate renters on how to ask the right questions and seek proper legal support if needed.

What should I do if I think my lease has illegal terms?

If you are concerned about specific clauses or feel pressured by a landlord, we recommend reaching out to the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) or a licensed legal clinic for advice. LeaseGuard’s tools can help prepare you for those conversations.

Are your tools legally binding?
